Last updated on June 13th, 2024 at 05:01 pm

B&G Foods of Parsippany, New Jersey, plans to buy the spice and seasonings business of ACH Food Cos., a supplier of spices and seasonings to retail and foodservice customers, for nearly $365 million in cash.

The ACH spice and seasonings business includes the Spice Islands, Tone’s and Durkee brands. The business also includes Weber brand sauces and seasonings that are sold under license.

Robert Cantwell, B&G president and CEO, says the acquisition will significantly broaden the company’s position in the growing spices and seasoning category, “which we believe is very relevant to today’s consumer, who is looking for healthier options, simple ingredients and enhanced flavor.”

B&G Foods projects that, in 2017, the acquired business will generate annualized net sales of $220-$225 million.
