Discount grocer Aldi currently has nearly 1,700 stores in 35 states, with plans to reach 2,500 stores by 2022.

Part of that expansion includes “exploring opportunities in Arizona as well as multiple other markets from coast to coast,” according to Aldi spokesperson Liz Ruggles.

Ruggles adds that, while specific information is not yet available about “expansion areas or potential store locations, …we look forward to sharing news as plans are solidified.”

Arizona would be a new state for Aldi, which just last year ventured to the West Coast, debuting in California, where it currently operates 38 stores in the southern potion of the state, according to the grocery chain’s website.
