Coors Light Makes Beer With Ice From Hockey Championship

The Tampa Bay Lightning dominated the Championship Final on July 7, leaving it all on the ice and taking home a second consecutive championship. To celebrate, Coors Light, an official beer of the Tampa Bay Lightning, is making the first beer made with the actual ice the hockey final was played on – called Champions Ice.

Dedicated fans may not be able to celebrate on the ice with their favorite players, but now they can celebrate by drinking the ice that their team won on.

During the final, Coors Light quietly scraped and collected the actual ice from the rink and transported it all the way to its hometown brewery in Golden, Colorado, to craft the game-winning Champions Ice brew. Coors Light will be filtering the ice during the brewing process, ensuring a refreshing, fully purified drinking experience for fans.

The championship ice from the arena will be purified using reverse osmosis membrane ultra-filtration technology, a purification process that meets the high Coors Light standards. The ice will be blended into the Coors Light brew to make the most refreshing and the only beer to be brewed with championship ice.

“As an official beer partner of the Tampa Bay Lightning, we’re proud to celebrate the team’s second-straight championship win by giving Bolts fans a literal taste of the action,” said Marcelo Pascoa, VP of marketing for the Coors Family of Brands. “We’re no strangers to the magic of the ice, both in the arena and outside it. And now, we’ve taken that ice and have brewed it into a refreshing beer.”

Starting the week of July 12, Tampa Bay fans can drink the limited-edition Coors Light Champions Ice at participating Tampa Bay bars, where there will be a limited supply of 32-oz. collectable growlers available as well. More information at ChampionsIce.com.
