Wooster, Ohio-based Buehler’s Fresh Foods has been certified by Great Place to Work. The award is based entirely on what current employees say about their experience working at Buehler’s.
Great Place to Work is the global authority on workplace culture, employee experience and the leadership behaviors proven to deliver market-leading revenue, employee retention and increased innovation.
“Great Place to Work Certification isn’t something that comes easily – it takes ongoing dedication to the employee experience,” said Sarah Lewis-Kulin, VP of global recognition at Great Place to Work. “It’s the only official recognition determined by employees’ real-time reports of their company culture. Earning this designation means that Buehler’s Fresh Foods is one of the best companies to work for in the country.”

Buehler’s puts an emphasis on providing support to employees to help them reach their professional goals or to start identifying a career path.
A special emphasis was placed on the grocery retailer’s Career Development program, which helps any employee self-identify their interest in career development and management opportunities. Even though the company’s main priority this year was to keep its employees safe during the uncertainty of the pandemic, company officials said they were thrilled to be able to provide programs to support employees’ professional goals.
According to Great Place to Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at certified workplaces are 93 percent more likely to look forward to coming to work and are twice as likely to be paid fairly, earn a fair share of the company’s profits and have a fair chance at promotion.

Buehler’s Fresh Foods was founded in 1929 by E.L. Buehler and his wife, Helen. In 2017, Buehler’s went through a management-led buyout and formed an ESOP. Buehler’s operates 13 supermarkets, seven liquor agencies, outside catering, coffee shops and a food truck named Ferris.
