NGA Executive Conference Delivered Strategic Focus On Future

The National Grocers Association (NGA), the trade association representing the independent supermarket industry, on Sept. 18 opened its 2021 Executive Conference, an exclusive, members-only event designed for CEOs and their leadership teams to break down big-picture ideas, best practices and growth strategies.

“Grocery leaders will walk away from NGA’s Executive Conference with actionable insights to help their businesses meet the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow,” said Greg Ferrara, NGA president and CEO.

Presented at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas ahead of the 2021 NGA Show, the two-day conference program featured networking events, enhanced educational sessions and expanded opportunities for trading partners to connect. Education sessions included topics such as Five Trends Everyone Will Be Chasing Tomorrow; Counting Data Among Independents’ Strengths; Supermarket Sustainability: How to Resonate with Shoppers; How Grocers Can Be Cyber-Secure; Future Forecast: Competitive Outlook for 2021-25; Follow the Science: Health and Safety Best Practices for Shopper and Employee Confidence; The State of Snacking in the 2020s; E-Commerce After COVID: Where Online Grocery Is Going Next; and Grocers, How Did COVID-19 Change You?

“These forward-thinking sessions were designed to help grocery executives stay ahead of the curve in a business climate where if you’re not innovating, you’re standing still,” said Jonathan Downey, NGA SVP of industry relations.

Washington, D.C.-based NGA is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale community grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry. An independent retailer is a privately owned or controlled food retail company operating a variety of formats. The independent grocery sector is accountable for about 1.2 percent of the nation’s overall economy and is responsible for generating more than $250 billion in sales, 1.1 million jobs, $39 billion in wages and $36 billion in taxes.
