Spindrift Spiked Expands Beverage Distribution

spindrift

Newton, Massachusetts-based Spindrift Spiked is expanding to Metro New York this month. The brand will also be expanding to multiple states this spring, including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, upstate New York, Northern California and the Chicago markets.

“Spindrift Spiked breaks the hard seltzer mold: we feature simple ingredients, prominently on the front panel. The liquid is the color of the fruit, has huge dimension of flavor and no added synthetics or fillers. In addition, our premium product supports a premium price that delivers margin opportunity for retailers,” said Bill Creelman, founder and CEO of Spindrift.

“When we entered the flavored sparkling water category, there were hundreds of brands, all made with ‘natural flavors’, clear liquids and no real ingredients – leading to very few real options for consumers. In the hard seltzer category, we saw many of the same characteristics. With the success of our initial launch in California, Rhode Island and Massachusetts and our planned expansion to New York and additional states in the near future, we are continuing to develop new flavors as we see Spindrift Spiked becoming a superior player in the dynamic hard seltzer market.”

Spindrift Spiked contains sparkling water, alcohol from cane sugar and real squeezed fruit – that’s it. Spindrift Spiked is made with a clean-tasting alcoholic base with 82 to 95 calories per can, with 4 percent ABV.

The new hard sparkling water line uses a 10-day fermentation process to maximize ABV without additives, as well as an ultra-filtration process which purifies at the molecular level. The product is available in a 12-pack variety of 12-oz. cans with four flavors: Mango, Lime, Pineapple and Half & Half.

Spindrift Spiked Half & Half has won two top awards since its release, winning best of show at the 2021 Canned Challenge and best hard seltzer at the 2021 Beverage Digest Awards. In addition to Half & Half’s best of show, the remaining three flavors won accolades at the 2021 Canned Challenge including gold for pineapple and two silvers for lime and mango.

As a combined category, flavored and hard sparkling water are expected to reach $15 billion in retail sales by the end of 2022. Spindrift Spiked can be found in the hard seltzer section of quality grocery and liquor stores as well as bars and restaurants. Spindrift Spiked donates 1 percent of its sales as part of Spindrift’s commitment to For The Planet.
