Spam Celebrates Brand Museum In Austin, MN

Spam

The Spam brand is experiencing a cultural renaissance through the creation of a brand museum in Austin, Minnesota. With seven consecutive years of record sales under its belt, the brand is showing up in restaurants, among other locations.

“The SPAM brand has some of the most ardent fans you’ll find anywhere,” said Jennesa Kinscher, senior brand manager of the brand. “The world can’t get enough of the unforgettable taste and infinite meal possibilities contained in this little blue can. It truly is the food of the past, present and future.”

The 16,000-square-foot museum was founded to tell the history of the brand. Guests are greeted by “Spam-bassadors” who answer questions and take guests on a guided tour. Samples of the brand’s product can be found throughout the museum. The “spam-bassadors” are on hand to offer “spam-ples,” featuring the product served on a pretzel stick, throughout the day.

“Visiting the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota, should be on everyone’s bucket list. Trust us – you won’t regret it,” said Savile Lord, museum and community relations manager at Hormel Foods. “Dedicated fans travel from near and far to take in the rich history and unique experience the museum offers.”

The Spam brand is also a staple in wilderness firefighting and has a life-and-death bond with smokejumpers, specially trained firefighters who parachute into wildfires in the United States.

Other stories that set the brand apart include a brand partnership with Yahtzee, fans getting the brand can tattooed on their bodies, a brand super hero and a Spam brand-themed wedding that included one fan legally changing their middle name to “I love Spam.”

The brand is owned and operated by Hormel. When the brand began production in 1937, the product captivated consumers across the U.S. The brand now has a variety of flavors, including bacon, turkey, hot and spicy, teriyaki and jalapeño.
