Southeastern Grocers Celebrates Receiving Multiple Awards


Jacksonville, Florida-based Southeastern Grocers was recently recognized by several organizations for its people-first values and affordable products.

Southeastern Grocers was named to Fortune’s 2022 “Best Workplaces in Retail” list which recognizes the top 20 companies for high levels of trust, respect, credibility, fairness, pride and camaraderie among employees. To determine the “Best Workplaces in Retail” in 2022, Fortune partnered with global people analytics firm Great Place to Work to analyze survey feedback representing more than 72,000 U.S. employees.

The grocer’s people-first culture has also garnered recognition this year by The Silicon Review as one of the 30 “Fabulous Companies of the Year” and in Newsweek’s list of “America’s Most Trusted Companies.”


“We know trust is fundamental to our people-first culture and promotes an environment where our associates are empowered to be their true authentic selves,” said Raymond Rhee, chief people officer. “Our employees, customers and communities are our top priority, and we are honored Fortune recognized this and named us one of the Best Workplaces in Retail.”

In addition to Fortune’s “Best Workplaces in Retail” recognition, SEG also received high honors from the World Dairy Expo Championship for its Southeastern Grocers’ brand dairy products and USA Wine Ratings, USA Beer Ratings and USA Spirits Ratings for its private label and market exclusive wines, beers and liquors.

Southeastern Grocers was the cream of the crop at the World Dairy Expo Championship Dairy Product Contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association. The grocer received the highest honor, “Ice Cream Grand Champion,” for its Prestige Chocolate Ice Cream, as well as 11 first-, second- and third-place awards for its Southeastern Grocers’ brand dairy products. The dairy products include eight ice cream and frozen yogurt varieties, three cheese and cream cheese selections and one yogurt variety.

Its private label and market exclusive wines, beers and liquors took home 21 medals at the USA Wine Ratings, USA Beer Ratings and USA Spirit Ratings. The ratings competitions look to recognize, reward and help promote wine, beer and spirit brands created to identify with and target a specific drinker.

The USA Wine Ratings awarded Southeastern Grocers with a gold medal for its market exclusive Papi Pinot Grigio wine, as well as nine silver medals and five bronze medals.

USA Beer Ratings awarded Southeastern Grocers’ private label beers from Big Storm Brewing Co., Reef Revival Lager and Reef Revival Session IPA, with two silver medals and Islamorada Key Lime Hibiscus Ale with a bronze medal. Additionally, USA Spirits Ratings recognized Southeastern Grocers’ market exclusive Shady Mile Wheat Bourbon, Ambush Canyon Vodka and Sweet Grass Vodka with three silver medals.
