Tops Unveils Remodeled Store In Grand Island, NY

Tops Ribbon Cutting in Grand Island, New York

Tops Friendly Markets held a ribbon cutting ceremony March 12 for a recently renovated 57,000-square-foot store that has been a community staple of Grand Island, New York, for nearly 50 years.

During the ribbon cutting celebration, Tops presented local community nonprofits with a donation, impacting first responders, schools, food pantries and veterans’ organizations.

“This considerable investment will offer customers a renewed shopping experience starting with our friendly and knowledgeable associates, expanded amenities and wide variety of high quality local, national and own brands all at a great value,” said Ron Ferri, president.

“We’re excited to officially re-open this location signifying our continued commitment to the Grand Island community.”

The renovation, which totaled $2 million, includes new interior and exterior paint, with welcoming awnings and landscaping, energy-efficient equipment and LED lighting inside and out. In addition, the store boasts solar-powered efficiencies, expanded modern self-checkouts, renovated restrooms and informational digital screens.

Among the store’s other features, some of which have been added during the remodel, are:

  • refurbished onsite Citizen’s Bank;
  • pharmacy, which has a new waiting area that provides a variety of services, including complex specialty prescriptions, immunizations, DMV vision test and new COVID-19 booster for those 65 and older;
  • fuel station;
  • Flashfood program to eliminate food waste;
  • Shop + Scan app for customers to scan and bag items while shopping to expedite checkout;
  • and online ordering, with grocery pickup, delivery and catering services.

“At Tops, we constantly evaluate the best ways to serve our customers and reinvest into our communities,” said Jon Douglas, Tops district manager.

“These latest enhancements will help make life a little easier for shoppers by focusing on a strong combination of convenience, selection, quality and low prices every day.”
