Local community leaders and cancer survivors Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton and Nancy Varner envisioned doing something in the community to raise awareness about cancer. During treatments, they had been each other’s support group and decided to do something for local Inland women facing the same prognosis. Inland Women Fighting Cancer (IWFC), a coalition of friends, fellow survivors and supporters, was formed.
IWFC and Stater Bros. Charities were the chief sponsors of the 4th annual event, which was expected to draw more than 8,000 walkers. Proceeds from the event go to help local cancer agencies in their support of cancer patients and their families.
The Shelby Report also was among the sponsors of this year’s event.
