Color Trends Tint St. Patrick’s Day Every Shade Of Green

Green Ombre Cupcakes

The baking experts in the McCormick Kitchens are bringing two of the year’s hottest color trends to the kitchen with flavorful treats in vibrant emerald, the color of the year, and an ombre cake-inspired by fashion’s color fade craze.

“Flavorful green treats have never been more in style,” said Mary Beth Harrington of McCormick Kitchens. “Whether you’re baking with the family or adding bright color to a fun gathering, our green tinting guide and festive recipes will help you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with the color and flavor of the holiday—vivid green and refreshing peppermint.”

McCormick’s green tinting guide is as follows using McCormick brand food coloring in a 15.25-oz. package of white cake mix (amounts for one can of white icing in parentheses):

Mint Green: nine Green and three Yellow drops (six Green and two Yellow)

Green Apple: 25 Green and two Neon Blue drops (50 green, 4 Neon Blue)

Neon Green: 15 Neon Green drops (30 Neon Green)

Teal Green: 40 Blue and 16 Green drops (20 Blue and 8 Green)

Garden Green: 50 Green and 12 Yellow drops (25 Green, 6 Yellow)

Shamrock Green: 50 Green and 12 Yellow drops (25 Green, 2 Blue)

The McCormick Kitchen also has released recipe ideas for themed foods: Green Ombre Cake, Pot of Gold Cookies, Luck o’ the Irish Cake Pops, Emerald Mint Milkshake, Green with Envy Cheesecake Bars and Green Beer, with five to six drops of Green to 12 ozs. of beer.
