For the fourth year in a row, Eggland’s Best will help raise awareness for breast cancer by stamping its eggs with a pink “EB” alongside the signature Susan G. Komen Running Ribbon. In 2013, America’s No. 1 branded egg company has donated $50,000 to Komen to help fund its mission, which includes innovative breast cancer research.
“Breast cancer affects many Americans and we are happy to continue to bring awareness to our customers any way we can,” said Charles Lanktree, president and CEO of Eggland’s Best LLC. “We hope that by funding Komen’s mission, we can help in the fight against breast cancer.”
It is estimated that there will be more than 230,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer in the U.S. in 2013. However, leading a healthy lifestyle may help lower the risk of breast cancer. Maintaining a healthy weight and exercising on a regular basis help promote overall good health and may help reduce the risk of breast cancer.
“Eating nutrient-packed foods, such as Eggland’s Best eggs, which have more vitamins than ordinary eggs, is one of the best strategies for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight,” says Elizabeth Ward, a registered dietitian. “I eat Eggland’s Best eggs because they contain 25 percent less saturated fat and are an excellent source of heart-healthy omega-3 fats and vitamins, such as vitamin D.”
When compared to ordinary eggs, Eggland’s Best eggs have 10 times more vitamin E, four times more vitamin D, double the amount of omega-3s and 38 percent more lutein. Eggland’s Best eggs also are a great source of high-quality protein and B vitamins, for just 70 calories.
