Publix’s Sarah Watts Wins IDDBA’s Annual Cake Decorating Challenge


The winner of the International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association’s (IDDBA) 19th annual Cake Decorating Challenge held earlier this week is Sarah Watts of Publix Super Markets in Gainesville, Fla. The event was held at the Dairy-Deli-Bake 2014 seminar and expo in Denver, Colo., June 1-3.

Stephanie Murphree of Harps Food Stores in West Fork, Ark., was the runner up, and third place went to Amanda Hansen of Coborn’s in Sauk Rapids, Minn.

The Cake Decorating Challenge judges included Luke Bender of Maplehurst Bakeries and Jim Caliendo of Rich Products Corp. Additional support for contestants was provided by Ray Lippert, Pam Pelzel and Elizabeth Riggs, all of Bakery Crafts.

The following Show & Sell Center 2014 sponsors provided product for the Cake Decorating Challenge: Bakery Crafts, Barry Callebaut, Enjay Converters, Fondarific, Lawrence Foods, Lowe Refrigeration, Maplehurst Bakeries and Rich Products Corp.

IDDBA’s Dairy-Deli-Bake 2015 will be held June 7-9 in Atlanta.
