Unified Broadens Retail Technology Offerings With Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions

The Shelby Report grocery news

Unified Grocers has named Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and LOC Software as preferred retail technology POS providers to give independent grocers more choices for point-of-sale and back-office systems. LOC Store Management Suite (SMS), POS, Back-Office and Host solutions will be available to Unified’s retailers as part of this program. Unified will use North Country Business Products and TRUNO, Retail Technology Solutions as preferred POS support partners.

Toshiba’s portfolio of in-store technologies works in tandem with LOC Software to provide retailers a feature-rich POS and back-office solution and gives shoppers a first-class checkout experience. Toshiba and LOC Software have a long and successful history of serving the needs of independent grocers across the U.S., according to Unified.

“We continuously evaluate technologies and technology providers to offer independent retailers access to innovative and cost-effective solutions that will allow them to better compete in today’s fast-paced grocery industry,” said Mike Brown, VP of retail services for Unified Grocers. “Our new relationships with Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and LOC Software will certainly do that and more.”

Toshiba’s SurePOS ACE for 4690 Operating System POS application provides retailers many features and benefits such as enhanced payment architecture, EMV support, coupon fraud prevention, QR Code printing support and flexible design to meet changing needs. Toshiba’s 4690 OS, optimized for high availability retail environments, is recognized as one of the most secure and reliable POS Operating Systems in the world today, with more than one million installations.

“Our Toshiba team and Together Commerce Alliance partner LOC Software are excited to join Unified Grocers’ preferred POS provider program,” said Bill Campbell, VP and head of sales, North America, Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions. “The ability for Unified’s independent grocers to realize the benefit of using the same technology platform as our larger chain clients will facilitate improved business performance, along with delivering a superior shopping experience.”
