Matt Simon, VP and CMO at Giant Food Stores, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, will deliver one of the keynote speeches at Home Delivery World 2019 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 4, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Simon’s presentation, titled “Pennsylvania’s ’95 year old start up’—How Giant is leveraging its ‘customer-centric’ approach and partnerships to drive e-commerce growth,” will focus on how the company is driving innovation and growth by connecting customer channels and establishing Giant Direct, powered by Peapod, to satisfy a growing demand in online ordering and grocery delivery.

Simon will share the innovation process behind the company’s new urban store format, Giant Heirloom Market, which opened in Philadelphia earlier this year. He will speak to the role courage plays across the organization as the company continues to execute the omni-channel strategy, helping customers shop with and connect with the Giant brand.

Home Delivery World gathers 2,500 attendees from the world’s biggest retailers, forward-thinking grocers, supply-chain experts and logistics professionals to discuss and identify innovations in last mile, supply chain and e-commerce operations.

At Giant, Simon leads a marketing team of more than 50 professionals. As VP and CMO since 2018, his areas of responsibility include brand strategy, corporate social responsibility, digital and e-commerce, loyalty, marketing operations and media relations. Simon joined Ahold USA as director of private brands in 2014 and was promoted to VP of loyalty and digital marketing one year later, a role he held through the completion of Ahold USA’s merger with the Delhaize Group in 2016.

Previously, Simon led U.S. marketing for Auntie Anne’s and spent more than 10 years in the consumer packaged goods industry working for Del Monte Foods Inc. and The Hershey Co.

Simon earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Pittsburgh and his MBA from The Pennsylvania State University. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.

Founded in 1923 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Giant Food Stores operates across Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia with more than 170 stores, 132 pharmacies, 99 fuel stations and online grocery ordering and delivery services. The company employs more than 30,000 associates. Giant is a company of Ahold Delhaize USA.
