SunFed used the Viva Fresh produce show in Texas to showcase its new semi-truck and a new recipe using zucchini.
The new tractor-trailer is wrapped in bright colors and carries the message “SunFed Perfect Produce.”
“This truck will run dedicated delivery routes for our customers, giving SunFed more control over our supply chain and maintaining our Perfect Produce reputation,” said Gretchen Kreidler Austin, director of marketing and business development for SunFresh, which is headquartered in southern Arizona near Nogales.
The new zucchini recipe that debuted at Viva Fresh was for zucchini balls.
“After much testing, I developed a new recipe that was show-worthy. We sampled both the keto and a conventional version of the recipe at Viva Fresh, but the keto version was the crowd favorite,” Kreidler Austin said.
To spread the word about the new product, SunFed had a “Name Our Balls” contest in search of the most clever name. So many entries were received that it was difficult for the team at SunFed to pick just one. But the winner was Megan Zweig of DMA Solutions. The official name Zweig came up with for the keto-friendly zucchini balls was “Keto Your Hands Off My Zucchini Balls!” Zweig won a Bose waterproof Soundlink portable speaker.
SunFed is a fresh produce company that works with growers of both fruits and vegetables. The company employs a team of food safety specialists that administer internal audits to ensure that they are either met or exceeded.
