Buehler’s Fresh Foods, AHA Partner On Life Is Why We Give Campaign

Buehlers holiday bonuses

Wooster, Ohio-based Buehler’s Fresh Foods is promoting a Life is Why We Give campaign at the registers of all 13 stores through Oct. 17, asking customers to buy a $1, $5 or $10 heart in support of the American Heart Association of Stark and Wayne counties. Customers are encouraged to write their ‘WHY’ on the heart, and hearts will be posted at each of the stores to raise awareness.

Additionally, wallet cards with the signs of heart attack and stroke will be available for free while supplies last.

“We are honored to be partnering with the American Heart Association as we battle a disease that has an impact on every one of our customers and employees. Buehler’s Fresh Foods appreciates the support of our customers who are always generous contributors to our campaign,” said Mike Davidson, EVP of sales and marketing.

The leading cause of death in the Wayne and Stark communities is heart disease at 28 percent. One in three of those community members are at high risk for heart disease, and nearly 100,000 people are diagnosed with hypertension or high blood pressure. Support of the American Heart Association also will allow Buehler’s to place 500 automatic blood pressure cuffs and lifesaving education in Stark and Wayne counties.

In talking about the Life is Why We Give campaign, the AHA says, “We want everyone to experience more of life’s precious moments. To do that, we must be healthy – in heart and mind. It’s why we’ve made better heart and brain health our mission. And together, we’ve made an extraordinary impact. But we’re just beginning. Until the world is free of heart disease and stroke, we’ll work together to make a healthier, longer life possible for everyone. Why do we do what we do? Because we’re the American Heart Association. And life is why.”

The 13 Buehler’s Fresh Foods supermarkets are located in Wooster (2), Orrville, Wadsworth, Medina (2), Ashland, New Philadelphia, Dover, Jackson Township (Canton), Coshocton, Portage Lakes (Green) and Massillon, Ohio.
