WAFC Announces Leadership Team Changes

Kevin Lovell

The Western Association of Food Chains has announced changes to its leadership team. As Pat Posey takes the helm as COO, several moves took effect Sept. 1.

Paul Gianetto, currently serving as the treasurer, was promoted to VP of the WAFC and chairman of the 2023 WAFC Convention. Nancy Lebold, who previously served as secretary, has become the treasurer.

To replace Lebold, the WAFC has appointed board member Kevin Lovell to the position of WAFC secretary.

Lovell is the SVP of operations for the Northern California division of Albertson’s/Safeway. He began his 37-year career in 1985 as a courtesy clerk at the Safeway store in Alamo, California. He entered the store management training program in 1991 and was promoted to store manager in 1994, later managing high-volume stores throughout the Bay Area. His experience led to his promotion as director of retail support in 2005.

Kevin was selected to attend the USC Marshall School of Business Food Industry Management Program in 2005 and was then promoted to district manager in 2006, responsible for the San Francisco stores. In 2017, he moved to the Seattle division as VP of operations and in 2018 returned to the Northern California division.

We are incredibly lucky to have this group of extraordinary industry executives lead the WAFC and I am both honored and excited to serve with them,” said Scott Drew, president of Smart & Final and president and chairman, Western Association of Food Chains.

This group has shown tremendous dedication to the success of the industry overall and are proven servant leaders who will be instrumental in helping us achieve continued success.”
