U.S. Bottled Water Sales Reach Record High In 2015, And More…

New research from Mintel reveals that sales of bottled water increased 6.4 percent to top $15 billion in 2015. Mintel projects sales to continue growing at a rapid pace through 2020, with projected sales growth of 34.7 percent for the category, including 75.1 percent growth for the sparkling/mineral water/seltzer segment. Consumer attitudes reveal that flavor innovation is driving the category’s success, with nearly half (48 percent) of bottled water drinkers saying they are partaking in more flavored waters to replace high sugar drinks. Melody Ain has joined the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) as meetings and registration coordinator. Ain joins the NACS meetings and conventions team to assist in the operations and registration for several NACS meetings throughout the year, including the NACS Show. She comes to NACS from Plate & Decanter, a culinary and wine event planning company. Prior to that she taught second grade abroad in Shanghai, China. Anheuser-Busch is rolling out the “Best Damn Cherry Cola,” the second national offering from Best Damn Brewing Co. Hitting shelves March 7, Best Damn Cherry Cola is aged on whole cherries after brewing—resulting in a flavorful, harder take on cherry cola. Anheuser-Busch launched Best Damn Brewing Co. in December with its first nationally available brew, Best Damn Root Beer. Best Damn Cherry Cola will be available in six-packs of bottles, 16-oz. cans and on draft.
