The Country Hen, a Hubbardston, Massachusetts-based producer of organic omega-3 eggs, recently earned certification from Humane Farm Animal Care (HFAC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of farm animals in food production.
HFAC certification supports the brand’s promise to produce eggs for humans in a manner that promotes the well-being of the hens, The Country Hen says.
“The Country Hen has always put the health and safety of our hens first,” said Brandy Gamoning, the company’s marketing manager. “It’s gratifying to now be able to say that the humane standards we have valued since our founding can be supported and validated by an organization as respected industrywide as Humane Farm Animal Care.”
The Certified Humane logo soon will be displayed on all the company’s eggs. This new certification joins the Orthodox Union kosher certification and the USDA Organic Certification already displayed on the eggs’ packaging.
