On, Nov. 18, Carolina Panthers linebacker Mario Addison and Harris Teeter associates will assemble 2,000 Thanksgiving meal bags which will be given to families in need served by Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina. The bag assembly is hosted in conjunction with Harris Teeter’s annual Harvest Feast Round Up Campaign; the bags will be distributed through the Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s network of partner agencies.
Each Thanksgiving meal bag has enough food to provide a holiday meal for a family of four and contains a whole chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, gravy, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, rolls and cookie mix.
“The holidays are an important time to be with family, and no family should be hungry—especially around the holidays. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to create change in our community through this partnership with Harris Teeter and Second Harvest,” said Addison. “My teammates and I look forward to packing these bags, which will feed 2,000 families in our community this holiday season.”
The Mario Addison Community Partnership (MACP) foundation was established to teach the community the importance of overcoming adversities while giving children the foundations of school and staying focused.
Harris Teeter, which is based in Matthews, North Carolina, acknowledged vendors who made the donation possible: Sanderson Farms, Del Monte, Ocean Spray, McCormick, Kings Hawaiian, Kraft, Idahoan Foods, Frito-Lay, Earthwise Bag Inc. and McCall Farms.
This bag assembly is one of four events Harris Teeter will host throughout various markets this November and is part of the company’s annual Harvest Feast programming. Throughout November and December, Harris Teeter will invite shoppers to round up their transaction at checkout to benefit its hunger relief partners.
