The Kroger Co. announced the opening July 27 of a spoke facility in Independence, Kentucky, that will work in conjunction with its fulfillment center in nearby Monroe, Ohio.

The location marks the company’s second spoke facility in the commonwealth, joining one in Louisville that opened in May 2022.

According to Kroger, orders will be assembled in Monroe and placed in climate-controlled vehicles for the trip to Independence. Once there, they will be checked and placed on refrigerated delivery trucks for delivery.

The Independence facility employs more than 70 people, with another 25 jobs expected.

“Kroger is a major employer in Northern Kentucky, and we welcome the nearly 100 new jobs the company will add at its facility in Boone County,” said Gary Moore, the county’s judge/executive.

“As the fastest-growing county in the Cincinnati MSA, we know demand is increasing for home deliveries to customers here and throughout Northern Kentucky.”

Rebekah Manis, senior director of Kroger Delivery Fulfillment Centers, also welcomed the new facility.
