Fresh Frozen Organic Baby/Toddler Food Line Expands Nationally

Yummy Spoonfuls, the San Francisco-based maker of frozen organic baby and toddler food, has gone national as its products now are available in nearly all Target stores.

Part of the products’ move into Target has to do with Yummy Spoonfuls’ CEO, Alastair Dorward, founding CEO of method products. Dorward led method from an idea to more than $100 million in revenue over eight years while working in partnership with Target.

“I’m passionate about companies that start from a deep commitment to people and planetary health,” Dorward said. “Yummy Spoonfuls is unlike any other baby food on the market. We gently cook fresh organic ingredients in small batches without using any purees and freeze it immediately after cooking to lock in nutrients, flavor, texture and taste.”

Company founder Agatha Achindu said, “We are thrilled to be announcing the national launch of Yummy Spoonfuls, created for busy parents who want to feed their children fresh, organic, non-GMO food that contains no preservatives, additives or fillers but are not able to make it from scratch,” said. “The food you feed your baby today has a lot to do with their health now and in the future. We are making high quality, homemade, fresh-frozen organic food accessible and easy for families nationwide.”

Yummy Spoonfuls products offer 31 flavors across three product stages from weaning through toddler years. Each stage is designed to address each specific developmental milestone with the proper nutrition.

The products are available in BPA-free packaging with see-through windows:

Stage 1: 4 months—Six purees made from single ingredients; flavors are Apple, Mango, Sweet Potato, Peas, Carrot and Butternut Squash.

“Our frozen organic baby food is inspired by the family recipes and exotic flavors of our childhood family farms in Cameroon and Brazil,” said Camila Alves, co-founder. “Parents no longer have to find themselves surrounded by bowls of purees and messy kitchens—our hope is that children will eat happily and learn good eating habits from their very first yummy spoonful, setting up the foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits.”

Achindu and Alves first met in 2014, sharing a vision to make the organic taste and healthy nutrition of their own childhoods available to every family in the U.S. Achindu had been cooking up fresh, organic baby food in the Southeast region under the Yummy Spoonfuls brand since 2006 and was on a search to grow her business. Together they are now forming a new company as 50/50 partners to take Yummy Spoonfuls national.

SRPs start at $2.29.
